What is Animal Husbandry? It's Type, Importance and Advantages

What is Animal Husbandry?

It means raising animals, keeping them alive, protect them from the disease so that we can use the products we get from them, by selling those products to increase commercial profit.

Now the question comes, what products do we get from animals? Because of which the farmer keeps the animals. We get a lot of products from raising animals, one of them is milk. A farmer can earn money from the production of milk, and if the milk production has increased more, the farmer can earn more money. We get cow dung by doing it and cow dung has many benefits like we can make biogas from cow dung, if you want to know more about biogas, click here. There are many more advantages of this cow dung, we can also use it as an organic. Apart from this, you get a lot of products from Animal Husbandry like Clarified Butter, Cheese, Butter, Curd, Buttermilk, Meat, etc. As long as the animals are alive, they give us all this, but when the animals die then many products are made with their bones and also with their skins, which increase the commercial profits. There are a lot of products in this whole world which we only get from it. It play much important role in our daily life.

Types of Animal Husbandry

Most of the 4 types of animal husbandry prevalent are the following.

1. Dairy Farming - All the big and small farmers in it earn a lot of money from this dairy farming. In this, the farmers have to manage dairy animals such as cows, buffalo, sheep, goats, etc. If all these dairy animals belong to the best breeding, the milk and cotton will give more. In dairy farming, not only milk is provided by caring for the cow but also cow dung is also available, which the farmer can use as organic in his farm and can also increase his crop production with dairy farming. From milk we get in dairy farming, we can also make products such as butter, cheese, curd, cheese, yogurt, butter, cream, etc. And in recent times, there is a great demand for all these products. In dairy farming, the animals are checked on time so that they do not have any disease and the animal is physically and mentally healthy. If the farmer has an extended dairy farm, it is extracted by the milk machine but the farmer does not have an extended dairy farm, so he gets milk through his hands.

2. Poultry farming - The birds that we raise for our benefit come under Poultry Farming. In Poultry Farming, they raise many birds like chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, swans, guinea fowls, pigeons, peafowls and quails. Products from poultry farming are eaten very much because they are rich in protein and along with protein, the essential fats in it are also found in the sufficient Amount. India is in the 6th position in the production of Poetry Farming all over the world. Per Capita Consumption of India are 19 eggs and 20 gm meat annually. Poetry farming gives a very quick turnaround as egg production becomes very quick, it does not take much time. Poetry farming can be done in very little space and it is also very easy to manage it. Poetry birds are kept in well-ventilated cages and kept in the dry land. What is animal husbandry

3. Fish Farming - Fish farming is a process in which fish are nurtured inside a closed tank or pond so that their production gives us a commercial profit. Along with poultry farming, fish farming is also growing very well because fish is also a very well source of protein and other nutrients from all over the world. Fish farming does not follow the whole species of fish, rather they are followed by fish that are eaten, whose demand is very high like salmon, catfish, cod, and tilapia. It takes a bit of space to do fish farming and its return also gets delayed because it takes time for the fish to grow and its reproduction. Fish farming is also called pisciculture.

4. Bee Farming - We call the apiculture of bee farming or beekeeping. Beekeeping means keeping and maintenance of honey bee which increases our commercial profits of honey. Beekeeping (or apiculture) is the maintenance of bees, generally in man-made hives. We have already made a post for Apiculture and Beekeeping, if you want to know more about it then you can read that post by clicking here.

Importance of Animal Husbandry

It is very beneficial for us.  If there is no animal husbandry, then we will not be able to get products from them. We have further explained why it is important for us -

  • We get a lot of milk which is very important to nourish today's busy and tired life. Today, milk is drunk before doing any work and its demand is increasing daily.
  • In it, we not only get milk by nurturing cow but also giving cow dung which if we use chemicals instead, crop production will also be increased and the soil will not deteriorate.

  • We can also plant biogas plants from the cow dung we get from nurturing cows. Which is natural gas and there is no harm to the environment as well. There should be at least one big biogas plant in every village.
  • Through fish farming in it, we get to eat a lot of protein which keeps our health intact.
  • Animals act like labor, which is used to Big and heavy stuff from one place to another.
